Being Faithful During Adversity

Being Faithful During Adversity

I’ve never been one to show my religious side to others. I don’t talk about my faith openly to many people, because I want to avoid the uncomfortable feeling that comes when two people discuss different religious views. You know the one, where one person thinks the other person’s belief is wrong.  Two things I learned early in life, if  you want to avoid arguments with other people, never discuss politics or religion.

However,  recently I’ve had a need to express my Faith.  I mean, we say we believe in God, but how do we show it everyday? In the past, like many, I used to come to God only when things were not going my way. My Faith would be disguised as hope. I would pray hoping my problem would be resolved.  And although God would always respond and answer my prayers, I would always feel like my Faith had not been completely committed. Hope is not the same as Faith, with hope you leave room for doubt, when Faith there is only certainty.

I am constantly praying to God through the day. I pray for my family and friends, every single one of them and since I have a big family it may take me a few days to get through all my uncles, aunts, and cousins. So if a family member or friend is reading this, “Yes, I do pray for you”. I pray for our health and for prosperity. I believe in the power of prayer, and while I do pray for others, my prayers are mostly about being thankful to God for all his blessings. Sometimes we take those blessings for granted. It’s in our human nature to complain about what we don’t have, but when you realize how much we really do have compared to other people, you can truly see how blessed we are. So you don’t have a new car, be thankful for the car you do have. How many people take a bus everyday wishing they had any car?

I’ve learned the last couple of years that being grateful for what God gives us is a way to show our Faith. Thanking God for our home, family, finances, and being able to live another day – shows our Faith.

Recently, I had a few of those moments. Where faced against many odds, the only thing I had was my Faith to help me through it.  Every single time God has responded and  came through for me.

Believing in God is something beautiful, and we should want share with others our Faith. I don’t mean covert them, I mean just share that “Yes, God hears our prayers and knows what is best for us. And he is going to bless us with his favor and grace when we have Faith.”

So if you are reading this right now, know that God has many blessings for you, that He will show you favor and his Grace will follow you every day. Do not Fear, do not Doubt, do not Worry – when God is on your side, nothing stands against you.  Have Faith and be Blessed!
